Gorkom Yacht Design enters the IMS grand prix circuit with a high
performance racer, specifically tailored to a growing Level 40. This
ahead-of-the-art racing design is guaranteed to be an extremely
competitive yacht matching up well against existing mainstream IMS
designs and is a viable alternative to the existing stable of IMS
designers.
VGYD
has employed the same philosophy of meticulous consideration to the
sailing criteria of the boat as they did on their Mount Gay 30 design
to produce a racing machine that will not be soon out-classed by the
competition. Optimized to the IMS VPP, this powerful hull form is
derived from VGYD's regatta proven canoe-body family, which is
guaranteed to produce a race winning performance.
The
hull and deck is constructed of S-glass and Kevlar over a foam core and
vacuumbagged in an epoxy resin. Carbon fiber uni-directional material
is used in areas of high loading such as in the keel grid, chainplates,
and in critical transverse framing.
The
all carbon fractional rig will carry runners and checkstays. The deck
layout, with optimized ergonomics, a through-the-boom mainsail sheeting
system, and a 78 inch diameter carbon wheel, will greatly increase the
efficiency of boat handling and crew dynamics.
