In
a colaborative effort with Lager Yachts, Van Gorkom Yacht Design is
working to develop a new luxury 80 foot performance cruiser. The sleek,
powerful lines and elegant overhangs of this stylish design are
complimented by its modern deck arrangement.
The center cockpit of the Lager
80 has seating for ten with a stow-away table for outdoor dining. The
separate helm station has a commanding position featuring twin 44"
wheels and consoles with a full array of instrumentation. There is a
separate access from the crews quarters to this area, as well as easy
access to the stern platform from the after cockpit.
The latest state-of-the-art
deck hardware, along with hydraulic winches and furling systems,
in-boom mainsheet control, and a non-overlapping jib will make handling
this yacht a breeze. In addition, the carbon fiber mast will
incorporate four sets of swept back spreaders, no runners, and no baby
stay.
The focal point is an elegant
360-degree-view salon. It features a dining table that comfortably
seats ten, a dry/wet bar, an entertainment center, and a well-equipped
office area. A day head is conveniently located just off the salon.
The spacious forward master
cabin has a king-size berth which can be converted into two sea berths
whilst underway. It features a roomy head with a separate shower stall.
There are two guest cabins, each with double berths and their own head.
The double crew cabins, crew head, and navigation station are aft with
separate access to the after cockpit and galley.
The gourmet galley is equipped
with all the latest culinary tools to produce five-course feasts
including a four-burner stovetop and oven, a 3/4 refrigerator, a
vertical freezer, a microwave/convection oven, plenty of dry storage,
and a trash compactor. Adding to the domestic features, the yacht
boasts has a washer/dryer, air conditioning, and 24volt DC and 110volt
AC power.
The Lager 80 is powered by a
Volvo 200hp diesel engine and has a cruising speed of twelve knots. Six
hundred gallons of fuel give this yacht a powering range of
approximately 650 miles. There is a 20kw and a 12kw diesel generator on
board to fulfil all the necessary power requirements.
The overall theme for the
construction of the Lager 80 is high-strength and lightweight building
techniques and materials. This is achieved by utilizing a wet-preg
glass/aramid layup over a high-tech core material in an epoxy resin
matrix and vacuum bagged. Carbon fiber will be used for high-load local
reinforcement in areas such as chain plates, longitudinal stringers and
transverse frames.
There is little doubt that the
Lager 80, with her elegant lines and powerful underbody, will set the
standard in luxury performance cruising.
