The
VG-RCX 46 R/C , like the VG-111, has been developed for the IRC
racer/cruiser, cruiser/racer market. This design will be a great
offshore competitor with a light weight, fully functional,
cross-purpose interior.
The hull geometry is quick streamline canoe body and fine entry forward
guarantee a strong windward performance, while the powerful after
sections ensure a dominant planing ability. The fractional rig is
carbon fiber with 20o swept back spreaders. The cockpit is long and
open with a dual competition carbon wheels, through-the-boom mainsail
sheeting, and a non-overlapping jib. The keel is our state-of-the-art,
high-lift foil and bulb configuration, contributing to a remarkably
stable and well-balanced boat.
Below decks is a functional and well laid out interior attuned to
offshore sailing. There is a forward-facing navigation station to port,
the galley to starboard, six pipe cots, permanent salon seating which
form two more berths, and an enclosed head.
Water ballast tanks can be fitted to give this design an expanded range
of stability and further add to the versatility and dynamics of the
boat. This system will allow the owner to race offshore with
reduced crew numbers.
The construction of the post-cured hull and deck structure consists of
a vacuum-bagged, wet-preg e-glass and kevlar laminate over a foam core
using an epoxy resin. Carbon fiber is used selectively in
areas
of high loadings such as stringers, frames, and chainplates.
The
rudder blade and stock are all carbon.
