Fresh off the drawing board, the revamped Yarmouth 36 is Van Gorkom Yacht Design’s latest day launch power boat design. This “café” styled cockpit cruiser has an elegant cool retro look to it, with influences from the 1950s and 60’s. Shades of Chris Craft and Riva stylings, combined with a “Down East” feel, gives it a bold but classy aesthetic. The riding surface of the hull is longitudinally stepped with a moderately tapering deadrise, producing an extremely smooth and stable ride with great sea keeping characteristics.

The Y36 will be powered by a 450 HP marine diesel engine with either a conventional outdrive or a Hamilton Jet Drive unit. The projected boat speed will be approximately 32 knots. There will be a retractable bow thruster for easier dock maneuvers. The structure will be a lightweight, impact resident composite and foam core in a vinyl ester resin matrix with carbon fiber unidirectional material in the caps of the stringers and frames, ensuring longitudinal and torsional stiffness.

The cockpit of this day launch power boat will be beautifully appointed with many classic features including a mahogany windshield frame, mahogany trim, a teak deck overlay, and rich, all-weather upholstery. This is juxtaposed with modern amenities and equipment such as a state-of-the-art sound system, a helm station with both a joy-stick and wheel, and complete navigational and system readouts. There’s also a semi-rigid, paneled sun shield for easy stowage, and a convenient swim platform with walk through access. Down below, there’s a comfortable, spacious V-berth forward, a separate head and shower, a well-equipped galley, and a teak and holly cabin sole throughout.
